About Langa Library

01

A digital library for reading

Langa Library provides digital reading surfaces, searchable library metadata, author pages, translation assistance, and future workflows for community-supported metadata improvement.

The project is organized around the reader. Its purpose is to help people find, open, read, study, and understand texts while preserving the integrity of the original source.

02

Discovery, metadata, and authorship

A library depends on reliable discovery. Langa Library therefore treats metadata, author identity, language information, tags, descriptions, and collection structure as part of the library itself.

Author pages, search tools, and curated discovery features are intended to help readers move through the collection with context rather than merely browse isolated files.

03

Translation as access

Langa Library supports access across languages through translation assistance. Translation assistance is a reading aid. It does not, by itself, create a public translated edition.

A public translated edition requires a separate process for rights review, attribution, human quality review, and takedown handling.

04

Community and stewardship

Langa Library may support contributors and supporters who help improve metadata, create original covers for eligible works, report errors, and strengthen the quality of the collection.

The long-term direction is a governed digital library community with clear standards for rights, metadata, translation, contribution, and public responsibility.
