Purpose of this center

Langa Library maintains this Trust & Policy Center to make its operating principles visible to readers, contributors, rights holders, browser extension reviewers, and future institutional partners.

A digital library is not only a collection of files. It is also a public system of access, responsibility, preservation, correction, attribution, and care. These pages describe the standards by which Langa Library intends to operate.

02

Foundational commitments

  • Langa Library preserves the integrity of original source texts and does not silently alter original works through reading or translation tools.
  • Translation assistance is presented as assistance for reading and study, not as an automatic public translated edition.
  • Public publication of translated or contributed material requires rights review, attribution where required, and quality review.
  • Reader privacy, user control, and clear disclosure are essential to the service.
  • Copyright, public domain status, licensing, takedown requests, and uncertain rights claims are treated as governance matters, not technical afterthoughts.
  • Community contributions should improve the collection and must be original, public domain, licensed, or otherwise rights-cleared.
