Translation Policy

01

Original text preservation

Langa Library translation tools must not silently modify source EPUB or PDF files. The original source text remains preserved.

Translation assistance may be shown beside, below, or in a separate workspace, but it should not replace the source text without clear user action and review.

02

Translation modes

  • Browser or client-side translation assistance.
  • Langa Library server or cloud translation provider workflows.
  • Human correction and review workflows.
  • Future community translation workflows, subject to rights and quality review.
03

Machine translation disclosure

Machine-generated translations may be inaccurate. Readers should verify important passages.

Machine translation is a reading aid unless clearly marked as reviewed and publishable.

04

Saving and publication

Translation previews are not saved by default.

Saving a translation should require explicit user action. Public publication of a translation requires rights review, human quality review, attribution where required, and takedown handling.

05

Provider transparency

If a translation provider requires attribution or specific disclosure, Langa Library should display that information in the relevant translation surface or policy record.

Provider configuration should not expose private API keys in client-side code or browser extension packages.
